The Peneda Gerês National Park straddles the border of Portugal and Spain. It is the only national park in Portugal and covers over 700km2. It was created in the 1970’s due to its scientific importance. Aside from its wealth of wild life and nature it also contains many important archaeological sites.


Vale is right on the edge of the park. The Mezio entrance to the park is just 10 minutes by car from us. Here you can find a modern visitors centre with plenty of information about the park. We can also give you advice on how best to explore this huge area of exquisite natural beauty.
